Our service

About us

The Cambridge Person Centre was founded on the principles of the Person-Centred Approach.  This means we believe that our role as counsellors is not to decide the directions in which you should change or develop, but instead to help you to explore your needs from your own point of view.  You will be encouraged to discover your own strengths and capabilities in a confidential, supportive and respectful setting.

Our qualified counsellors are experienced in many areas of counselling work drawing on the Person-Centred Approach and a range of other theoretical approaches so that our work with you can be tailored to your individual needs. We will review our work with you regularly and welcome your feedback on what works well for you. We are individually accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and, as such, are bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure therein.

All counselling sessions are held privately in friendly and comfortable surroundings and in strict confidence.  We are open to anyone regardless of age, gender, race, religion or social background.

How much will it cost?

Our usual fee is £35 per hour.
Reduced rates may be available for those on low income - please ask.

Please note that we review our fees annually.

How long do I need to come?

Counselling sessions last for one hour and are usually arranged weekly. The number of counselling sessions you have will be discussed between you and your counsellor and will depend on what you want to gain from the work.  Some people come for one or just a few sessions, while others come for some months or longer. Of course, you are free to stop at any time you choose although it is usually beneficial to talk this through beforehand.

The next step

If you would like to make an appointment to see a counsellor, or would like further details, please call us.  If we are unable to come to the phone an answer machine will be in operation.  Please do leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We will be pleased to arrange an initial session during which you can discuss your concerns and decide whether counselling is for you.  If counselling doesn't seem like the right thing, we will talk through where else you might find help more appropriate to your needs.
